At Decision Aid, we believe that emergency planning should be simple at all levels, regardless if you’re a large government jurisdiction with a team of emergency response staff or the local deli with only a handful of employees. We know that a quick online search for emergency planning and business continuity provides an overwhelming amount of competing resources, many of which are not battle proven, are outdated, and create more work than value. A goal was set to develop a simple tool that could guide any organization to become more resilient to emergencies through simple emergency and business continuity planning. Jurisdictional and industry resilience is enhanced through more businesses & organizations being prepared, self-sufficient, and an integrated asset in the overall community’s emergency plan. If we can limit the disruption to that same local deli, it’s one less organization you will need to worry about during a disaster.
Our team has developed an online resource called “Your Resilient Toolkit” with the purpose to provide an easily customizable platform with curated resources on the topic of emergency & continuity planning for the institutional or facility level. The tool can be branded for your jurisdiction or organization and can incorporate specific resources applicable to the area or industry. During the development of this toolkit, subject matter experts from emergency management, public health/healthcare, schools, law enforcement, and fire/life safety were brought in to advise the development team on best practices and industry requirements. As a result of their feedback, the tool contains sub-industry planning pages with specific requirements from OSHA and State Labor Departments, government laws/regulations, licensing agencies, accreditation organizations, and industry standards. Specific industry sections have been established for:
The toolkit directs users to proven resources from the American Red Cross, FEMA, and the Insurance Institute for Building & Home Safety and organizes them in a logical step by step sequence:
Decision Aid will work with you to develop a branded layout and custom web address that is inviting to your community. Our team works with local regulatory organizations during implementation to customize the tool with any pertinent state or local requirements or resources. Prior to launching the platform, we work with your organization to develop a marketing and outreach strategy through partnerships with the local Chamber of Commerce, economic/community development, and public safety partners. Maximum adoption of the resources on “Your Resilient Toolkit” is our priority to help build overall resilience in your community.
The platform is available as a hosted solution with the Google G Suite platform enabling additional functionality for emergency response and recovery. More information about our Collaboration Tools can be found here.
